Held by God

Help me to lay down every distraction
Show me where I need to start
Too often I let other things crowd You out
I want you to be first place in my heart

I forget that I already have Your grace
I spend my days working for You
But at times the work turns to striving
My vision gets cloudy and I can’t see what’s true

Life can be so overwhelming
As I juggle the many things on my plate
The world tries to pull me in different directions
But what I really need is to enter Your gate

I lay down everything that makes me worry
And I allow You to take each concern
For You alone can handle it all
What a beautiful lesson to learn

I place my trust completely in You
And I feel the stress melt away
You wrap Your loving arms around me
And I thank You for holding me each day

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30

  1. Love this piece you wrote Bridget 💙.
It resonates with the struggle we face with distractions , the umpteen things that grab us in different directions and our striving. Gods arms are the perfect place of rest where we can take our burdens and know that we will feel His love and grace.

  2. Those words speak near and dear to me!! I feel so distracted lately but I know where I need to be! Anchoring to Him!!

Our house project has been overwhelming but I do notice that I’m thinking of God and reflecting on verses while working so I can’t allow Satan to try and make me feel like I’m not connected to God!!!!

    • Yes! Staying anchored to the Lord will change everything. I love that you’ve been thinking of God and reflecting on verses while working. That is a beautiful thing. Many times our minds wander to our problems, or what we are going to eat for dinner, or anything other than the Lord. So that is awesome that your mind has been in a good place while working. And you are absolutely right – the enemy will be real quick to point fingers and make us feel like we are lacking. But I am glad to hear you recognize it and are standing strong against his tactics. That is vital. Too often we allow negative emotions to creep in, and then we fall for it and believe our feelings. But the truth is that we are at war, and the enemy is trying to get into our heads. That is something I need to remember when I am feeling down. So thank you for that reminder!!
