Every day is a gift!
How is it October already? 😱 I’m back for another monthly blessings and reminders post! Let’s take a moment to reflect on the month of September and see how God has shown up!
Working on the Heart ♥️
There were a few days when I spent more time around more people than I normally do. It was interesting to see how each person (including myself) had stumbling blocks with communication and action. It seems that so many of us have deep insecurities that we allow to rule our speech and our steps.
This made me want to be kinder to those around me. Extending kindness is always a good thing, and my hope is that it can help others to come to a better place in their hearts.
As it’s been said, “Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.” (When I googled this, it was attributed to several different people.)
However, I also know that I can’t change anyone, and I’m not trying to. But I do want to work on my own heart. I want to remember that we have nothing to fear or feel insecure about. We are covered with grace and love, thanks to Jesus. When we walk with Him, we can walk in confidence.
Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. – Colossians 3:12 ESV
Daunting Tasks
I have heard it said that perfectionists tend to procrastinate. When facing a daunting task, the fear of failure keeps them from beginning that task. They want to get things right when they tackle the task. So at times it might seem better (even if subconsciously) to not begin at all. And while we might not all be perfectionists, I think this same principle can apply to all of us. I have seen this in my own life with different tasks.
One that comes to mind is a particular assignment at work. This particular project is one that will take several months. On top of that, the content is a bit confusing.
One benefit to projects like this is the need for recurring meetings. Having a set day and time every week when you have to give an update forces you to stay on top of things.
This made me think about other tasks that are not work related. Or if you work for yourself, you might have different procedures. Holding yourself accountable or setting certain deadlines for yourself could be a big benefit. Maybe you could have a weekly or monthly check-in to evaluate what progress you made.
And of course pray! I am often seeking God’s help with challenging tasks. He has provided wisdom and guidance countless times when I called on Him. Even if what you are dealing with seems like a small thing, the Lord is still there and always ready to help! Sometimes we will think our problems are too minor to bother God with. But He cares about every thing in your life, big or small.

Hurricane Helene
I live in Florida and we had a not so friendly visitor, Hurricane Helene, come through last Thursday night. The wind was the worst that I ever heard. We lost power for 5 days, but thankfully the Lord kept us safe.
We have a generator that ran for 3 days until it died. When we spoke to the service company, they said you are supposed to turn it off for an hour every twenty-four hours. Unfortunately, they did not tell us that when they installed it. 🤔 We heard from an acquaintance who had the same problem. I guess a lot of people had issues because it sounds like the service companies in our town are backlogged right now.
Thankfully we had a neighbor who let us borrow a smaller generator for our refrigerator. So at least we didn’t lose any food. And a friend also offered her generator. This reminded me to be thankful for those who are willing to help.
And sometimes we don’t realize how blessed we are until we lose something. Even the ability to flush a toilet is a gift! 😅 And seeing how terrible other communities were hit is really heartbreaking, but also puts things in perspective. We have so much to be grateful for each day. I pray we can remember that without a disaster coming our way.
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Oh and my husband was on the news! Sort of. Before the storm there was a place in our community to get sand bags, although you have to fill them yourself. The news was out there interviewing people. My husband steered clear of that. I don’t blame him. I would have too! But we still saw him in the background filling bags. 😊
And thanks to the hurricane, I have been behind on reading others’ blog posts. So I apologize to my blogger friends!
That’s enough from me. I would love to hear how the month of September went for you. Please share in the comments. Thank you for reading. You are in my prayers. God bless you! 🙏

Thankful to hear you made it safely through the storm! Storms are scary. You’re so right about being kind to others. As you mentioned, you never know what people are going through but we’re all going through something. So a little kindness can go along way. My September has been ok, although at times stressful. I’m thankful for God’s grace. I have one of those daily bread scripture boxes on my desk. I pulled 2 Cor 12:9 from the box and just left it there all week lol. Have a blessed weekend, Bridget! 💕

Hi Dawn! I hope to keep this in mind when it comes to being kind to others. Sometimes when we feel hurt, we quickly forget that everyone is struggling with something. You are so right, though – a little kindness can go a long way. And even if our kindness isn’t reciprocated, at least we will feel better in the end. I’m sorry you have dealt with a lot of stress recently. I’m praying for you. 2 Cor 12:9 is a great reminder to lean on the Lord and His grace! I hope you have a blessed weekend too! ♥️

WoW, What a Wonderful Post. It sounds like September was quite a month for you as it was for us as well.. UGH !!! I love your reflections on kindness and the importance of being gentle with ourselves and others. It’s so true that everyone is facing their own battles, Lord knows we have been hit month after month here at home. Your reminder to be kind is a beautiful takeaway.

I’m sorry about all the things you and your family have been going through. I definitely understand though, because it seems like the many are being attacked in one way or another right now. I’m praying for you and your family. And you said that well – be gentle with ourselves and others. We all need that reminder at times! Thank you for stopping by and commenting!

Grateful to hear you’re all right and managed to save the food in the refrigerator. Praying for all those who lost everything. Only in God’s world is one able to rejoice in His goodness and sorrow in loss at the same time. While the weather has continued to be summer like during the day, it’s cooling off at night. Fall is coming. I’ve almost finished the last deep edit of “A Promise of Possibilities.” I’ll leave it for a while and then do a final read through and finally republish. God willing. May God continue to bless you and your husband.

I agree, it is so sad to see all those who have lost everything. Sometimes we feel helpless to do something, but we can always pray. 🙏 Such a good point, Judy – “Only in God’s world is one able to rejoice in His goodness and sorrow in loss at the same time.” 🤔 I’m glad you are getting cooler nights! 🍂🍁 And that is good news about your book! I’m praying God continues to see you through this process. Thank you, Judy! God bless you, my friend ♥️

I’m so sorry you were directly affected by Helene and thankful you’re safe. So true—hurricanes have a way of putting priorities and blessings into perspective.

During storms, we realize how much we take for granted the small necessary things of life. I am glad that you and your family are safe.
While reading your post, I thought of my friend who has the same New Year’s resolution every year. Which lately I have been copying. Her New Year’s resolution yearly was to be kinder and gentler. 😊
Peace and Blessings! 🌺

Yes! A few days of difficulty sure does help us see how blessed we are. Oh I really love that New Year’s Resolution! That is definitely something we all can embrace! Peace and blessings to you too, Jeanne! ♥️

Glad you are safe. Sounds scary with the hurricane. Extending kindness to others and yes working on our own heart, as we cannot change others.
I cannot believe we are in October and already a week in. This year seems to be flying by. Has been a busy time for me, but am leaning into the Lord and I find the Lord leading me to pray more and more and that is the best weapon against anxiety and worry that I am so prone to. The enemy knows it and uses it at every opportunity. But we do not battle on our own, we have the Lord with us.

I completely understand what you mean. And agree wholeheartedly with all that you wrote. Although you and I are facing different circumstances, I have seen the same patterns. Just last night I was praying about my worries and Jesus was showing me that I need to lay it all at His feet. I’m sorry you have been going through this, Manu. But I thank you for sharing what the Lord has revealed to you. You are in my prayers! 🙏♥️

Oh I do pray you will be ok cause now I see the next storm is supposed to hit Florida?! These storms show GOD’S power, but the good in all of it is neighbor loving neighbor and prayers being poured out across the country. I think we all have been on our knees lately. Be safe and let us know here if you are ok?

I felt so much of this!
Going in office and seeing people in person is happening more this month (last week and this week … why is October so busy 😅😂) so far and I totally understand the stumbling blocks, plus the tasks of projects.
I’m so sorry about the hurricane and there’s another on the way toward the peninsula. That’s so scary! I’ll be keeping you in prayer 🙏🏻❤️ Stay safe!
Thank you for the encouragement ~ if I hadn’t been so behind myself, this would have been great to read before today, haha.
September didn’t end the way I would have liked, but God provides and guides us when turn to Him. I’m working on keeping a good attitude in the face of trials that are outside my control and knowing what’s my role in the resolution.
I hope you have a great week!!

Hi Summer! I’m sorry you have been busier and more stressed this month. I hope things improve. 🙏 We made it through Milton safely. God has protected us! “I’m working on keeping a good attitude in the face of trials that are outside my control and knowing what’s my role in the resolution.” – thank you for that! Pure gold! 🤩 I need to remember that too, because it seems the worries keep piling up. Thank you for stopping by. I’m really glad this was encouraging. I hope you have a fabulous Friday and weekend!

Hi Don! I didn’t know you lived in Florida. We are in Lake City. I hope you guys made it through okay. It sounded like there was a lot of damage in your area. We did okay here. Out of the three hurricanes we had this year, this one was the lightest on us, since we are further north.

Our family, house, and property are fine. We had an exciting evening and are now waiting to get power back. It is incredible how much we rely on electricity.

I’m so glad you made it through safely. I completely understand what you mean about electricity. There are thousands of the linemen camped out in my town. I will try to send them your way. 😁

Our power suddenly came on, and we celebrated. Maybe one of your linemen came down and fixed it.
