The Redeemed Challenge – Day 14

Good morning! Today is Day 14 of the Redeemed Challenge! In today’s chapter of the book, we read about the wonderful rest that is at our fingertips as children of God. We live in a fast-paced world. You know it’s bad when you hear even children talking about stress. So I think it’s safe to say we all could use some rest – physically, emotionally, and spiritually. So how do we get that rest? But handing our worries over to God and trusting in Him.

Don’t forget to listen to the song for the day!!!!!!! Rest by Matthew West

  1. Today I admit I am weary. It’s been a long, busy and trying week. I look back on it and am pleased with my accomplishments but..ouch..I am worn out. This challenge was perfectly timed in my life. Often i feel guilty for feeling tired..like I should be able to go and go and go like the Energizer bunny. But then i think. Does the glass of water i just drank most of automatically fill back up? No. Do groceries I use from the pantry automatically reappear for a later meal? No. So why should I expect my strength to reappear without asking Jesus to replenish it? We have limits but He does not. Let me rest in His open arms as I humbly ask him for a refill today. Amen! Thank you Bridget for saving me from feeling guilty today with your gentle reminder that I am human and not a robot.

    • I love those analogies that you used! Very good point. I have wondered before why God made us to need sleep, food, etc. And we can’t just get our fill of those things all at once and be set for a long time. No, we have to sleep every night. We have to eat three times a day. I think God knew we might try to push ourselves. So He made us in a way that we would have to stop and rest. And I think that is also why He commanded us in the Bible to have a sabbath day of rest. He knows us better than we know ourselves. And what a loving God we have to think of every little thing! 💜

  2. I think a good mental, physical and spiritual rest is needed! My family and I have been going almost nonstop.

  3. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve turned everything over to God and then taken it back. Giving up that control is such a struggle. I know God is able to do it all better. I know His plans exceed my expectations, and yet I take everything back like I need to fix it a little more before I give it all to Him. I struggle with understand what is my responsibility and what I need to give to God… I haven’t figured out how to separate what I need to “do” from the weight of responsibility. I’ve allowed the sense of responsibility to become like the world on my shoulders. God never asked me to carry the world; He only asked me to do what He has asked of me. It’s an old habit of being held accountable for everything, by abusers. Time to break the habit.

    • I know what you mean! It can be difficult to hand it over to Him. I do believe that is why He gave us limitations because He knew we would try to take on the world. But how wonderful that God never gives up on us and He continues to give us opportunities to get it right. His mercies are new and very morning. Thank You, God!

  4. This is exactly what I’ve been going through lately. I feel like I’m dragging through the valley of life. I’m going to write this prayer out and put it where I can see it every day because I don’t want to live this way any more. 💕

    • I imagine with renovating your home, it has added to your sense of responsibility. I will pray alongside you, that even in the midst of your circumstances, you are still able to find rest and peace. 🙏🏻
