100 Days

I love when we start a new year because it always feels like a brand new opportunity to make lasting changes in our lives. However, I also appreciate the end of a year, because it gives us a chance to end the year well.

It’s hard to believe, but on Monday we will have 100 days remaining in 2024. This made me wonder how we might choose to spend those days. During this time of year, as many of you know, I have often focused on gratitude. While gratitude is always a good choice, it’s not the only choice.

Therefore, I have come up with a small list of areas where we could choose to place our attention:

  • Gratitude.
  • Praise.
  • Amp up our Faith by focusing on God’s promises and believing truth.
  • Prayer.
  • Read the Psalms. There are 150 Psalms, so perhaps read 2 every other day. Or if you wanted to read 3 day, you could make it through the Psalms twice.
  • Read about Jesus in the Gospels. There are 89 chapters between the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
  • Focus on being optimistic with our thoughts and words.
  • Look around for God’s goodness.
  • Abide in Jesus’ Presence.
  • Find a meaningful devotional to read.
  • Work on goals set in January which have not been accomplished yet.
  • The Fruit of the Spirit. There are 9 fruits listed in Galatians 5:22-23. Perhaps rotate and focus on one for 11 days. Or focus on all 9 daily.
  • Implement activities that bring joy into your daily life.
  • Memorize a passage of Scripture.

And you don’t necessarily have to add anything to your days. You could also choose to give something up for a time. I don’t recommend giving up sweets right now, since they will be everywhere with the holidays approaching. 😋 However, you might consider giving up a bad habit or some activity that is a distraction. The possibilities are endless.

If you like the idea of focusing on something for the final 100 days of 2024, and if you do decide upon something – I would love to hear what it is.

As for me, I will be focusing on some of the items I listed. And I will also focus on my one word for the year – Presence. When we reach the tail end of a calendar year, I tend to get eager while looking ahead. Sometimes God has to remind me that we are not finished yet!

Even in the midst of difficulties, we can find goodness in our days. God’s love never runs out. So in the coming weeks ahead, I hope we can all find ways to fix our eyes on the Lord and His love for us. As Susie Larson so beautifully wrote, “Every season is the perfect season to better know His love.”

I will keep today’s post somewhat short, so you can watch the video below. I’ve shared this before, but it’s been a while. This was originally shared with me by poet Daryl Madden. This video always helps alter my perspective. Enjoy!

Thank you for reading. I know time is precious, so I don’t take it lightly that you took a moment to stop by and read this post. You are in my prayers. God bless you!

  1. I like your word of the year, Bridget-presence. Mine is purpose. Thank you for the reminder about the 100 days left in 2024. It’s all too easy to let the days run together, without pondering our own existence—from God’s perspective. 🙏His best to you and your family.

    • I like your word too. Thinking about our purpose each day helps us to make better choices with our words and actions. You’re right – the days run together and it can be easy to lose sight of some things. Thank you for stopping by. Blessings to you and your family, David. 🤗

  2. Thanks for sharing areas we can focus! I was just thinking last night about how we’re about 100 days probably from end of year, but I hadn’t counted. What a timely post! There’s a 100 day devotional I’ve wanted to get into but I’m worried I have too much on my plate with my other studies to do more devotionals. The summer is a good season to do them, personally, when I’m in between some studies.
“Even in the midst of difficulties, we can find goodness in our days.” So true! I have a reminder that pops up at the end of each day that asks me “Name something good that happened today.” Helps me remember that it wasn’t all bad (when I have a rough day) and then there’s days it may have been all good and picking something is hard only because there’s so many ways it was good. Haha!
    Thanks for sharing, Bridget! 🙌🏻🙏🏻❤️

    • Oh that is so neat that you were thinking about the 100 days too! And I understand about taking on a devotional right now, especially since you just started back with your Bible study group. I really love the pop up you have at the end of the day. Such a great way to keep your perspective in the right place! Thank you for stopping by and sharing that, Summer! Have a great weekend! 💕

  3. Thank you my friend for this reminder to be intentional with what we focus on in the remaining 100 days of this year. I like the list and will be considering what I would like to focus on, a couple of them are already along the lines of what God has been repeatedly getting my attention to lately.
    Blessings 💙

    • You’re welcome! I’m so glad this post resonated. I know what you mean. There are several items on the list that spoke to me as well. I am already reading in the Psalms. So I will definitely have that one down! I am hoping the Psalms, as well as some of the other items, will help me to not worry so much, but rather to place my trust in Almighty God! He is always with us and His love never fails! Thank you for stopping by! Blessings to you too, my friend ♥️

    • I like that word – intention. A good reminder to prioritize well. And I applaud you for working towards reading the Bible in a year. That is a big time commitment. I confess, I have never made it through in a year. 2 or 3 sounds more like it. 😅

      • Thanks, Bridget. I’ve never made it through at all. I’m in Judges now. Is it bad that I’m a bit judgey? I have the Bible App on my phone. I can listen and read along at the same time, and then Tara Leigh Cobble provides insight.

  5. Thank you for sharing this very inspiring post! It is great to look at the end of the year as a time to refocus our energies in positive and meaningful ways. The book of Psalms is a wonderful book to ponder. God’s word always refreshes us and we see things anew. It is so easy to get caught up in everything, and we sacrifice our peace. The word, ‘quietude’ came to me as I was reading this post. Also, the verse, “Be still and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)

    • Ooh I love that word quietude! And Psalm 46:10 is definitely so powerful! I agree about the Psalms. When we went through the pandemic in 2020, the Psalms were an anchor for me. The Lord is so good to us and gives us amazing gifts in His Word. I am enjoying my time in the Psalms this season. And I am trying to keep my focus on the Lord and His goodness. Thank you for stopping by, Linda! It’s always lovely to hear from you. 💕

  6. Thank you for this list. I will be intentional about deciding on something to focus on. I like the idea you’ve given of taking time to focus. There are so many distractions to pull us away. I must admit, I have already started wondering what word God will give me for next year lol. 🤔

    • That made me laugh, because I know exactly what you mean regarding wondering about next year’s word 😂 I’m glad this post brought inspiration, Dawn. I agree – life does supply us with many distractions. I hope we can each find ways to focus on something life-giving.
