Every day is a gift!
Trust [rely on and have confidence] in the LORD and do good; Dwell in the land and feed [securely] on His faithfulness. – Psalm 37:3 AMP
It’s difficult to get back into the groove of blogging on a regular basis. I always thought that my friends who published posts daily (or close to it) were superheroes. Now I see how smart they are, because consistency in any area will strengthen the muscles in that area. The more we nurture our creativity, the more inspiration we find to continue.
My friend, Tina, and I are in the same boat. Due to life circumstances, we both have been unable to blog much this year. And we are both hoping to get back into a routine. But something Tina wrote reminded me that –
What We Feed Grows
However, this truth isn’t limited to our creativity. This is also true for every area of our lives.
We can feed on faith or we can feed on doubt.
We can feed on gratitude or we can feed on complaining.
We can feed on healthy choices for our bodies or we can feed on whatever tastes/feels good in the moment.
We can feed our minds with Christian sermons, music, and books. Or we can feed our minds worldly things.
We can feed the meaningful relationships in our lives, or we can drain them.
The list goes on.
Something my friend, Summer, wrote about recently also reminded me that we have to make good choices in life, rather than compromising.
We have to choose what we say “yes” and “no” to. Sometimes we have to say “no” to things that will steal us away from the best things.
Let’s take some time to look at what we are feeding in our lives. Are we feeding on areas that are worthy of growth? Or are we feeding on areas that deplete us?
May we choose to be intentional with what we focus on. May we choose the paths that most honor God. May we choose to plant seeds in our lives that will grow the good fruit.
Thank you for stopping by and reading! God bless!
Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” – John 6:35 NIV

It’s so easy to be distracted by the daily “emergencies.” Too often, not learning to saying “no,” steals away the needed yeses to the things that really matter. Thanks for the reminder that growth applies to every aspect of our lives.

So true. The little things that crop up can easily take away our focus. And often I allow things that aren’t necessary or important to take up my time and energy. I want to make better choices. Thank you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts, Judy!

You’re welcome, Bridget. Isn’t wonderful how God encourages us to keep trying, giving us new opportunities to draw closer to Him every day.

I love this reminder, Bridget! Consistently is definitely key in any area and that’s where I struggle sometimes. When you fall of you routine, it’s so hard to get back on but so worth it (when it’s the things God honoring). 🤗

I know what you mean. It can be difficult to find the right balance. But when we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, He helps us make the best choices! 🤍

Thanks for introducing us to Tina and Summer, Bridget. Great blogs. I’m glad to see you’re back at it, even though you are struggling to get back in the groove. May you continue to be a megaphone for His grace.

Sometimes life and circumstances shift causing a break in a routine. Our attention is needed elsewhere and it is difficult to get back into routine after such a shift. You are right, we must be cautious with what we “feed” ourselves. In the end, however, a routine can be met with a fresh (or refreshed) outlook.
Blessings to you Bridget!

It can be easy to get off track at times, depending on the circumstances. And I have seen lately how I have allowed little things that aren’t important to take my energy. It might require discipline to get back on track. But I love what you said about finding a fresh or refreshed outlook. Such a great point. Blessings to you too, Pauline!

I love feeding on these God-centered blogs each day! Thank you for posting ‘nutrition’ for us. And I love how often the posts I read intertwine with my morning Bible reading.

I agree. I love the God-centered community we have here, Kathy. And “feeding” on the faith-filled posts keeps our focus in the right place. And I know what you mean about how the different passages and messages we read each day might intertwine. I like to think it’s God showing us how much He is involved in our lives. Even in our daily Bible reading, and other messages we read during the day, He is speaking to us. What a gift! 🎁

Thanks Bridget. You’re right! We must be careful how we spend our time and pay attention to what we are consuming. May we keep trusting God to lead us. I can’t believe years ago I posted 5 times a week. I can’t even imagine doing that now. For me too it is a struggle to keep at blogging these days. Thanks for sharing Tina’s post, I have not come across her posts in along time. Take care, blessings! 💕

I’ve been struggling with this lately. With life’s difficulties and stress, it seems more difficult to stay on track and disciplined in what God calls us to do. As far as how much we post, I think it will change, depending on what season of life we are in. And that’s okay. I don’t think we should make it a chore, or else we will lose the joy. But just as you said – “May we keep trusting God to lead us.” Amen to that. You’re welcome for Tina’s post. She has not been online much this year. But she is trying to start a new schedule of posting every other week, I believe. Thank you for stopping by, Dawn. I hope you’re doing well. Blessings to you too ♥️

I thought I commented on your excellent post, but may not have tapped send.
It’s amazing how the tyranny of the “urgent” can consume some much of my time and emotional bandwidth. Lately, my job has been like that— putting out one fire after another.
I now understand better why Jesus suggested to his disciples that they go away and find a place to rest!
Anyway, I agree that what we focus on grows, so it behooves us to watch where we put our attention. Blessings to you and yours, Bridget. God Bless!

Well there is something fishy going on, because now I see my reply to you didn’t go through. So sorry. Hopefully this works. And I can’t remember now exactly what I said before. But I know what you mean about work. Things like that, which steal our energy and time, we can’t always help. But I pray the Lord leads us to find restoration in Him, and He leads us to carefully choose the right things that should be taking up our time and energy. Thank you for sharing, David. I pray things get better. And God bless you too! 🤗

Yes, and Amen, Bridget. These are wonderful thoughts (and wisdom) about choosing what we feed, and being intentional to feed the things we want to grow.
May we be wise with our time, mindful and prayerful for the assistance we need to feed what God would have us feed.
Thank you for the mention and for feeding us as you endeavor to feed and nurture what matters in your own life.
it is tough going getting back into blogging! We’ve just found out that we have to move out of our suite…. 🫤 by February 1st. That’s going to be such a big distraction for me. I don’t like this unsettled feeling….
Finding a new place to live is stressful. If you could please join me in prayer regarding this new need, and that I will still continue to feed all the areas that need that attention (including blogging), that would be so much appreciated. I find writing so helpful to my walk with God….
Blessings. 💓

Oh my goodness. I’m really sorry to hear that. I will definitely be praying. And I can understand how this will be a distraction. I pray you find creative ways to continue to feed the things in your life that want to grow. 🙏🏻 if we were really neighbors, I could help. Maybe one day. 😉 Blessings to you too, my friend. 🤍
