Hummingbirds

Pauline over at Back Porch Studio is often posting pictures of the critters in her yard. In her recent post, One Day Around the Watering Hole, she featured the shenanigans of birds and squirrels.

Pauline is also a talented artist who loves sharing her pottery creations. If you browse some of her posts, you will find some interesting reads and pictures. And you can purchase some of her beautiful creations in her Etsy shop!

Pauline has inspired me to share some pictures of our hummingbirds. These were taken with my phone, so they’re not the best quality. But they are still fun shots.

As I told Pauline, one of the little guys was chirping at me. He might have been upset that I was too close to his feeder. But Pauline thinks he was saying hi. 😁

  1. Love this! We have squirrel shenanigans at our house 😂 we call him Buster. He comes by the front door and looks in before going down to the front porch steps and in the yard where he frequently looks up at the door. Animals are so funny. 😆

    • Yes! We see them chasing each other away all the time. We have 4 feeders, so there should be plenty of room for everyone. 🤔

    • Thank you! I agree. It’s definitely hard not to snap the pictures. Many times they are skittish and will fly away if I move to pull out my phone. I’m glad they weren’t too shy on this day.

  2. This is cute!! Her pottery is REALLY nice too! Funny thing, in the area I live we rarely get hummingbirds but this past week we’ve had several visit our patio. I’ve been taking pictures and videos whenever I spot them. ❤️

  3. What a blessing to have these lovely little birds buzzing about. A friend of mine bought me a hummingbird feeder when asked what I would like for my birthday. Unfortunately I never managed to attract one hummingbird with it! 😯 I don’t really have my own space for it where I’m living now…. but maybe one day I will get a chance to set it up again and try to attract some.

Oh, that reminded me. 😆 I did try to set up a bird feeder when we moved into our basement suite. It was one you can fill with bird seed and stick to your windows. I was happy when birds began to feed from it. Then one morning when I was making a little video on my phone of the birds early in the morning I thought I saw a second bird fly in…. (I didn’t have my glasses on) On closer inspection of the video, a rat had popped his head up and then ran across my planter! 😯 Unfortunately, I had to take the bird feeder down because I didn’t want to attract rats! RATS! ……. Again, maybe one day I will have better “luck.”

Enjoy the hummingbirds, Bridget. Thank you for sharing. 🌸🩷🌺🦋🌼

    • Oh no! You haven’t had good luck with bird feeders. 😂 but yes one day you will have the space to set them up and I hope you see lots of beautiful birds. It is difficult to keep them free from other critters. Regular bird feeders here are often visited by squirrels. and sometimes the hummingbird feeders will attract wasps. 😬 our little hummingbirds will only be here until October. Then they migrate further south until March. I will miss them. Thank you for sharing your stories. 🥰
