The Whole Heart Challenge – Chapter 2

Today we are discussing chapter 2 of my book, Giving God Your Whole Heart. In this chapter we see the importance of reading our Bibles every day. There are a lot of things we can do in our daily lives to draw closer to the Lord. But I believe in my own life, this one habit has helped me grow the most. I love opening my Bible and seeing what God wants to show me each morning. In my book I wrote about a time when I was on vacation and had skipped reading my Bible for a few days. Well, something similar happened again recently. Due to my busy schedule, I was not reading my Bible every morning. You’d think I would’ve known better! My days felt messy and I lost my sense of peace. So I vowed to not let that happen again. Reading the Bible each morning really does connect us to the Lord, it helps us face our day, and it brings us some much needed serenity. God longs to spend time with us and will happily meet us as we sit down with His Word in front of us.

  1. Reading the bible is indeed a privilege and a treasure as you say it in your book.
I too feel very off kilter if I have not spend time in His word.
When you wrote about taking your bible out of your suitcase and felt your spirit give a little sigh- I can relate to that. Whenever we travel I always struggle with daily bible reading. When I miss it for a few days and know I need to get back to it, I hold my bible and open pages in random at first and feel a sense of rightness.
A beautiful reminder to prioritise spending time in His word every day.
    Blessings 😊💙

    • Thank you for sharing that! I love to hear that others have that same sense of peace with the Bible! It’s amazing how many times we can open it up to something that is perfectly what we needed that day. The Bible is the only book that is alive. What a precious gift the Lord has given us! 💜

  2. Cades Cove is beautiful. A friend took me to visit, a year ago. I used to treat scripture study as part of my devotional study. I’m learning that devotional study is part of my scripture study. Thanks for pointing it out; it helps to clarify.

    • I am so glad to hear you have been to, and enjoyed, Cades Cove! I love it and always like for other people to experience it too. I am glad this chapter was helpful. Even if I am working through a Bible study book which heavily relies on the reader looking up Bible verses, I still cannot use that as my personal Scripture time. I also need separate time with just God and the Bible to have that peace. Thanks for commenting! ❤️
