Every day is a gift!
November 11th is Veterans Day in the USA. I cannot think about Veterans Day (or veterans in general) without thinking about my dad, who served in the United States Army.
Each year I would get my dad a card, thanking him for his service. In 2023, my husband and I went from store to store, but we were unable to find any Veterans Day cards. I had to improvise and get a generic “thank you” card instead.
In 2024 I made it a point to order a Veterans Day card on Amazon ahead of time. I’m glad I did, because it was my father’s last Veterans Day here on earth.
I’m telling you all of this to say – go out of your way to show your loved ones that you care. They will appreciate it, more than you know. And you will be thankful you did it. A double blessing for both you and them.
And I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to anyone who has served or is currently serving. Thank you for your service!

Lovely picture selection. I would have flipped the image too! LOL
And yes to . . . “go out of your way to show your loved ones that you care” ❤️

Thank you! And I’m glad you agree about the flag. 😁 As you know, our time with our loved ones is too short. Looking back at some of my loved ones that have passed, holding onto those memories is really special. ♥️

This is a beautiful memory of your Dad, Bridget. I’m thankful for your Veterans Day post. We need more of them, I think.

It must have been so special for your dad to receive that card from you, Bridget. It’s really surprising that it was so difficult to find a veterans day card. I would have thought that would be one occasion that shops would stock those specialty type cards. Definitely should be a day of such importance that we want to thank those who have served.
Your blog post was a lovely read. 🧡 Thank you for sharing. 🧡

I think in general, greeting cards are purchased less and less. But I agree. There are some occasions when we want to give our family and friends a card to express our love. Sometimes we have to improvise, though. Thank you for stopping by, Tina. I’m glad you enjoyed the post. 😊♥️

Thank you! I appreciate the hug! 🤗 And you’re welcome. Sometimes it feels like there is isn’t much we can do to support others. But a pray or a word of gratitude can go a long way to encourage. ♥️

Thank you, Dawn, for your service! I do think of you, too, when I think of the Veterans in my life. It takes a strong and brave person to join the armed forces. We are grateful for you. 🇺🇸

My husband and many of my family members have served in the military.
To that end, it is important to celebrate our living service members on Veterans Day and those who have passed on Memorial Day.

So true! And something that Judy helped me realize in her Veterans Day post (https://theprojectbyjudy.wordpress.com/2025/11/11/veterans-day-11/) is that the families of service members deserve our gratitude too. It’s not an easy road for any involved. With that being said – many thanks to you, your husband, and your other family members. ♥️
