God Doesn’t Miss a Thing

A few weeks ago there was an incident when someone’s words towards me felt discouraging. This was about something in particular in which the person didn’t agree with me. However, not long after, I also had someone else bring me encouragement in the same area.

This week, something similar happened again. Someone’s words brought discouragement. Later someone else brought up this same topic, but their words were encouraging.

I was a bit stunned in a good way. I thanked God because I believe He was the one who sent encouragement my way in both cases. He helped me to keep moving forward in these areas, instead of retreating. What are the odds that the discouragement and encouragement happened to be about the same topics? And occurred within hours each time? The two encouragers didn’t know anything about the words of discouragement. Only God could orchestrate this.

This reminds me that our Heavenly Father sees every detail of our lives – big or small. He is not too busy to take notice of the little things in our lives. He sees how we are feeling, and He is there for us. Even when we don’t ask! I didn’t ask for encouragement in these areas. Yet God swooped in and brought it anyway.

Just thinking about how much He loves us is incredible. And it helps our hearts to overflow with love for Him in return.

Jesus reminded us of God’s care when He said, “Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” (Luke 12:6-7 NIV)

And Psalm 139 reminds us that no matter where we go, God is always there and He sees us. God already knew what each day of our lives would hold, even before we were born. God knows us inside and out. He knows us better than we know ourselves. And He knows what we need in each moment.

When we are going through difficulties, it’s comforting to keep these truths in mind. The pain of this world loses its sting when we keep our focus on Jesus and His love for us.

When we are feeling down, we can turn to Him and seek His compassion. There have been times when I felt worried or anxious about something, and I would ask God to bring me His peace. And He would answer! Sitting in His presence and seeking Him does wonders for our souls.

Whatever you are dealing with today, turn to God and His great love. He wants to be there for you. He wants to help you through the things you are facing. And take some time to recall the times in your own life when God showed up for you. As we are reminded in Psalm 23:6 – Surely His goodness and mercy have been following us.

    • Amen and amen! I love that reminder that Jesus has already won. And I agree about how God is in all the details of our lives. Yet I fear that I am often in a hurry and overlook His goodness. I want to do better about keeping my eyes open for Him! 💕

  3. It’s incredible how God works—offering encouragement twice on the same topic, just after discouraging words. I’m reading your post at precisely that moment in my own life, Bridget. Thank you!
